Hiring the specialist rather than buying a project
Odoo is not software you buy and switch on. It is a set of apps that cover most of a Kuwait company’s process and then stop at the part that is specific to your business, which is usually the part that makes you money. An Odoo developer booked by the hour is how you close that gap without signing for a full implementation you may not need.
That is the honest split. If you already run Odoo and it is not doing one particular thing, hire hours. If you are moving an entire company onto it from paper and spreadsheets, that is an Odoo implementation project with planning, data migration and training in it, and it should be priced as one.
Where standard Odoo stops in Kuwait
Four things reliably need work on a Kuwait installation, whatever the industry:
- Arabic documents. Quotations and invoices print as English layouts with Arabic text dropped in, with numbers and headers in the wrong place. Real right-to-left templates are a few hours each and they are what your customer actually sees.
- KNET. Out of the box, the portal offers cards. Kuwaiti customers expect KNET first, which means connecting MyFatoorah or Tap and putting it at the top of the list.
- Three-decimal KWD. Odoo defaults to two decimal places. Left alone, every price and every tax line rounds wrongly and your accountant finds it at year end.
- Local delivery and branches. Governorate-based delivery zones, branch stock, and a working week that runs Sunday to Thursday all need configuring rather than accepting the defaults.

- Modules for a process the standard apps ignore: rental cycles, service contracts with renewal dates, commission per salesperson, per-branch approval limits.

How to start
Send a copy of one of your current quotations or invoices and a paragraph about what your staff do by hand today. Those two things tell an engineer more than a requirements document.
